This is an adventure off-road training course that takes the shape of a week-end off-road tour. The course is destined mainly for riders with limited experience in off-road riding who ride adventure motorcycles. The course we are using varies, according to the weather conditions and the experience level of the participants.
So, we meet Friday at noon, at the lodging facility in the mountains, we leave our luggage and we start off towards the area where we make the initial presentation of off-road riding techniques. It is there that we discuss and practice the basic stuff, starting with the proper riding position, low speed control in various situations, riding through obstacles, climbing and descending slopes. We learn how to brake off-road in various conditions and how important it is to use one’s body in off-road riding. There will be plenty of breaks for hydration and relaxation.
We will end the day with a longer ride, on our return route to the lodge. In the evening, we will savour a delicious dinner, followed by a beer (or maybe even two) and we will tell biking stories in front of the fireplace. It’s a good occasion to maybe clarify some doubts related to off-road riding.
On Saturday, we will use the techniques we learned on the previous day for a longer ride, during which we will make the off-road climb to Lacul Vulturilor (Eagles’ Lake), on a not very difficult course. We will make quite frequent stops for advice related to riding technique, selfies in the wild, hydration etc.
On Saturday evening, we will enjoy the same delicious dinner, seasoned with the same well-deserved cold beers and tall tales of biking derring-do (we have plenty of those, we assure you).
On Sunday, we ride on a shorter and easier route, on a different course, where we can again apply what we learned on the previous two days. We will again ride to very picturesque places, perfect for bragging on Facebook with well timed selfies. We will end the day around 15:00 hours, so that everyone has enough time and energy left to get home, where they can process the unbelievable week-end they just had.
What does one need?
An adventure bike (if you don’t have one, we can help you rent one), full riding gear (take something for cold weather, even if it’s summer). The boots must be at least adventure type boots, but ideally they should be enduro/motocross boots. No touring/street boots are allowed.
We recommend knobbly tires, but it’s not a must. The bikes should have crash protection in their more sensitive areas, because it’s not unusual to take a tumble of two in off-road riding (usually, with no damage to anything other than the ego).
How much?
950 lei (RON) for the week-end course. This includes a packed lunch on Saturday, plus hydration throughout the course.
